2007-08 Men's Basketball Players of the Week:

For the Week of February 25-March 02, 2008:

Men: CJ DeWitty; Minot State; Junior; Guard; Austin, TX

DeWitty caused a Jamestown turnover with a jump ball with ten seconds left in the contest and then hit the game winning shot as the buzzer sounding as the Beavers defeated the Jimmies, 87-85, in the DAC tournament championship, giving the Beavers a berth to the national tournament. In the championship triumph, he had 23 points, four rebounds, six assists, four steals and a block and had a 20 points, nine rebound, five assist, two steal and three block performance in a semifinal win over Valley City State. In the two ballgames, he was 15 of 31 from the field, including 5 of 13 on 3-point attempts and connected on 8 of his 11 free throw tries.

For the Week of February 18-24, 2008:

Men: Matt Witwer; Minot State; Senior; Forward; Minot, ND

Witwer recorded 40 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals as the Beavers closed out the regular season with a win and opened the conference tournament with a victory.  In the two contests, he was 14 of 17 from the field, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range and connected on 10 of his 13 free throw attempts.

For the Week of February 11-17, 2008:

Men: Jake Holen; Jamestown College; Senior; Guard; LaMoure, ND

Holen had 55 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, three blocks and a steal in leading the Jimmies to a sweep of their conference games that clinched the regular season DAC championship.  In the two wins, he was 15 of 33 from the field, including 6 of 12 from the 3-point arc and hit 19 of 20 from the free throw line.  Holen's 55 points moved him into fifth place on the Jimmies' career scoring list with 1551 points.

For the Week of February 04-10, 2008:

Men: Cain Atkinson; Black Hills State; Freshman; Guard; Evanston, WY

Atkinson had 43 points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals in helping the Yellow Jackets to a 2-0 week.  In the two victories, he was 13 of 27 from the field, including 10 of 15 from the 3-point stripe and connected on 7 of 8 of his free throw attempts.

For the Week of January 28-February 03, 2008:

Men: Joe Backus; Dakota State; Senior; Forward; Wentworth, SD

Backus scored 60 points, grabbed 20 rebounds and added one steal and one block for the week as the Trojans dropped a pair of road contests.  In the two games, he was 20 of 27 from the field, including 2 of 3 on 3-point attempts and hit 18 of 20 from the free throw line.

For the Week of January 21-27, 2008:

Men: Marques Benjamin; Mayville State; Senior; Guard; San Francisco, CA

Benjamin scored 47 points, handed out 18 assists and added seven rebounds and a steal in helping the Comets to victories over #23 Jamestown College and #16 Valley City State.  For the week, he was 11 of 19 from the field, including 5 of 8 from the three point arc and connected on 20 of 21 from thee free throw line.

For the Week of January 14-20, 2008:

Men: Jake Holen; Jamestown College; Senior; Guard; LaMoure, ND

Holen scored a career high 40 points in a win over Minot State and 27 points in a triumph over Dickinson State to move into eighth place on the Jimmies’ all time scoring list with 1382 points.  Holen added five rebounds, six assists and two steals for the week.  In the two games, he was 21 of 32 from the field, including 8 of 16 from the 3-point line and connected on 17 of his 21 free throw attempts.

For the Week of January 07-13, 2008:

Men: Aaron Patterson; Minot State; Junior; Guard; Freemont, CA

Patterson recorded 54 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals as the Beavers swept a pair of home conference contests.  For the week, he was 19 of 31 from the field, including 3 of 8 from 3-point range and hit 13 of 15 from the free throw stripe.

For the Week of December 31, 2007-January 06, 2008:

Men: Mike Stowman; Valley City State; Junior; Guard; Tower City, ND

Stowman had 30 points, two rebounds and a block in the Vikings’ 90-69 win over Simpson, IA.  In the game, he was 11 of 17 from the field, including 6 of 11 from the 3-point stripe and hit 2 of 2 from the free throw line.

For the Week of December 24-30, 2007:

Men: Matt Witwer; Minot State; Senior; Forward; Minot, ND

Witwer scored 48 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and added seven assists and three steals as the Beavers went 2-0 at the University of Winnipeg Tournament.  In the two outings, he was 18 of 32 from the field, including 6 of 9 on 3 point attempts and connected on 6 of 9 from the free throw line.

Men: Tremel Gilot; Mayville State; Senior; Guard; Chicago, IL

Gilot had 30 points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals in a 96-80 win over Minnesota-Crookston.  In the lone game of the week for the Comets, he was 13 of 20 from the field and 4 of 5 from the free throw line.

For the Week of December 03-09, 2007:

Ross scored 29 points and added six rebounds, five assists, two blocks and three steals as the Hardrockers went 1-1 for the week.  In the two contests, he was 13 of 28 from the field, including 1 of 3 on 3-pointers and hit 2 of 2 from the free throw stripe.
