2009 Runners of the Week:
For the Week of November 02-08, 2009:
Men: Tyler Van Peursem; Dakota State; Senior; Sioux Falls, SD
Van Peursem captured the individual title at the DAC Championships in Rapid City, SD in leading the Trojans to their first conference team championship in men’s cross country. He covered the 8000 meter course in 27:29 to win his first ever individual title.
Women: Erin Curran; Black Hills State; Freshman; Wahoo, NE
Curran was the individual winner at the DAC Championships in Rapid City, SD, leading the Yellow Jackets to the team title. She covered the 5000 meter course in 19:12 to edge her teammate Wendy O’Lexey by two seconds for the win.
For the Week of October 19-25, 2009:
Men: Matt Fideler; Dakota State; Junior; Volga, SD
Fideler finished 11th out of 162 runners at the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, SD to help the Trojans to a second place finish. He completed the 8000 meter run in a personal best time of 26:02.
Women: Katie Conlon; Jamestown College; Sophomore; Jamestown, ND
Conlon was the individual winner in the 148 runner field of the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, SD. She completed the 5000 meter course in personal record time of 18:14.
For the Week of October 12-18, 2009:
Men: Jed Morgan; Black Hills State; Senior; Loveland, CO
Morgan placed 27th out of 160 runners at the highly competitive Santa Clara Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara, CA. He ran the 8000 meter trail in a personal best time of 25:14.
Women: Breyette Schall; Minot State; Freshman; Minot, ND
Schall ran a personal best 19:38 in placing fifth at the Minot State Invitational.
For the Week of October 05-11, 2009:
Men: Devon Berkness; Dakota State; Junior; Madison, SD
Berkness finished second at the Briar Cliff Invitational as the Trojans captured the team title. He ran the 8000 meter course in 25:37, which was more than 30 seconds better than his personal best time.
Women: Erin Curran; Black Hills State; Freshman; Wahoo, NE
Curran placed third out of 74 competitors in helping lead her team to the championship at the Yellowjacket Invitational at MSU-Billings. She completed the 5000 meter course in a personal best time of 18:33.
For the Week of September 28-October 04, 2009:
Men: Brandon Velasquez; Minot State; Sophomore; Chula Vista, CA
Velasquez finished fourth at the Jamestown College Invitational. He completed the Hillcrest Course in 27:19, his best time of the season.
Women: Alyssa Bossler; Jamestown College; Senior; Helena, MT
Alyssa finished second in the Jimmie Invitational with her career best time on the Hillcrest Course in Jamestown. Alyssa ran 19:12, eleven seconds behind winner Katie Conlon of Jamestown.
For the Week of September 21-27, 2009:
Men: Anthony Drealan; Dakota State; Senior; Fulda, MN
Drealan finished 12th out of 238 competitors at the distinguished Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, MN on Saturday. He finished the 8000 meter run in 26:15, which was the third fastest time among NAIA runners. The time also was his second fastest time ever in an 8000 meter race, only eclipsed by his 26:04 run in the Dakota State Invitational the prior week.
Women: Katie Conlon; Jamestown College; Sophomore; Jamestown, ND
Conlon placed 15th in the Maroon Division of the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, MN on Saturday. The Maroon Division included runners from the NAIA and NCAA Division II. Conlon completed the 6000 meter course in 23:33.
For the Week of September 14-20, 2009:
Men: Mark Mazza; Black Hills State; Senior; Cheyenne, WY
Mazza placed 24th in a field of 341 runners at the Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln, NE. Mazza placed fourth among non-NCAA competitors, finishing in 25:59.
Women: Wendy O’Lexey; Black Hills State; Senior; Rock Springs, WY
O’Lexey placed 20th out of 266 runners at the Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln, NE. She was the top runner from NAIA schools, completing the 5K run in 19:07.
For the Week of September 07-13, 2009:
Men: Jed Morgan; Black Hills State; Sophomore; Loveland, CO
Morgan won the South Dakota Mines Invitational in 26:25, 17 seconds better than the runner-up as the Yellow Jackets captured the team championship.
Women: Wendy O’Lexey; Black Hills State; Senior; Rock Springs, WY
O’Lexey won the 5K race at the South Dakota Mines Invitational in a time of 19:14. O’Lexey, who was a national qualifier last season, won the race by 35 seconds in leading the Yellow Jackets to the team title. |
