2007 DAC Players of the Week:

For the Week of November 05-11, 2007:

Offense: Anthony Walkine; Valley City State; Junior; Running Back; Chicago, IL

Walkine carried the ball 28 times for 146 yards and three touchdowns and added three receptions for 26 yards in helping the Vikings to a 45-27 triumph over Peru State, NE.  In the contest, he surpassed the 1000 yard rushing mark, ending the season with 1027 yards.

Defense: Billy Anderson; Valley City State; Senior; Defensive Back; North Road, AK

Anderson returned a fumble 21 yards for a touchdown and also intercepted a pass in the Vikings’ 45-27 win over Peru State, NE.  In the contest, he also had one solo tackle, ten assists, a tackle-for-a-loss and a pass break-up.

Special Teams: No nominees.

For the Week of October 29-November 04, 2007:

Offense: Joe Beehler; Black Hills State; Junior; Wide Receiver; Hot Springs, SD

Beehler had eleven carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns and added three receptions for 35 yards and a score as the Yellow Jackets defeated Valley City State 52-0 and captured a share of the DAC title.

Defense: Gary Thomas; Jamestown College; Senior; Defensive Back; Sparks, NV

Thomas had eleven solo tackles and two assists including one tackle-for-a-loss and one sack, along with two pass break-ups in helping the Jimmies to a 19-14 win over Minot State to secure a share of the conference championship.

Special Teams: No nominees.

For the Week of October 22-28, 2007:

Offense: Jason Beilke; Valley City State; Junior; Quarterback; Valley City, ND

Beilke set a school record for passing yards in a game with 425 as he led the Vikings to a 34-3 triumph over South Dakota Mines.  In the win, he was 20 of 30 for 425 yards with no interceptions and two touchdowns.

Defense: Tony Dill; Black Hills State; Junior; Defensive Back; Casper, WY

Dill picked off four passes and had a pair of solo tackles as the Yellow Jackets defeated Mayville State, 30-6.  Dill was also named the NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week.

Special Teams: Kraig Tafoya; Black Hills State; Freshman; Punter/Kicker, Cheyenne, WY

Tafoya averaged 32.0 yards per punt and had each of his three kicks downed inside the twenty yard line in the Yellow Jackets 30-6 win over Mayville State.

For the Week of October 15-21, 2007:

Offense: Jon Meier; Minot State; Sophomore; Quarterback; Regent, ND

Meier was 20 for 33 passing for 301 yards with four touchdowns and one interception in leading the Beavers to a 47-26 win over Valley City State.  In the contests, he ran the football five times for a minus-20 yards and a score.

Defense: Wacey Coleman; Black Hills State; Sophomore; Defensive Lineman; Rozet, WY

Coleman had three solo tackles and three assist tackles including three sacks and three-and-a-half tackles-for-a-loss as the Yellow Jackets handed eighth ranked Jamestown College their first setback of the season, 19-16.

Special Teams: Joe Beehler; Black Hills State; Junior; Wide Receiver; Hot Springs, SD

Beehler had two kick returns for 98 yards in helping the Yellow Jackets to a 19-16 triumph over eighth ranked Jamestown College.

For the Week of October 08-14, 2007:

Offense: Tanner Ehrlich; Black Hills State; Freshman; Running Back; Fort Collins, CO

Ehrlich had 21 carries for 156 yards and a touchdown in the Yellow Jackets’ 22-7 victory over Dakota State.  He also had two receptions for four yards.

Defense: Billy Anderson; Valley City State; Senior; Defensive Back; North Road, AK

Anderson returned an interception 18 yards for the game winning score in the Vikings’ 17-13 win over Dickinson State.  In the contest, he had two interceptions, one pass break-up, four solo tackles and one assisted tackle.

Special Teams: Johnny Lester; Minot State; Freshman; Wide Receiver; Miami, FL

Lester returned a punt 50 yards for a touchdown and returned a kick-off 51 yards to set up a score as the Beavers remained unbeaten in conference play with a 21-10 triumph over Mayville State.

For the Week of October 01-07, 2007:

Offense: Chauncey Calhoun; Valley City State; Junior; Wide Receiver; Phoenix, AZ

Calhoun had six receptions for 225 yards and three touchdowns and added on carry for 31 yards as the Vikings topped Mayville State, 29-21.  He also set a school record with a 98 yard touchdown reception.

Defense: Forrest Sainsbury; Black Hills State; Sophomore; Linebacker; Camp Crook, SD

Sainsbury had eight solo tackles and three assisted tackles in the Yellow Jackets 58-0 win over South Dakota Mines.  He had three tackles-for-a-loss, including one sack.

Special Teams: Michael Fox; Minot State; Junior; Punter; Calgary, AB

Fox averaged 31.25 yards per punt and had four of his eight punts downed inside the 20, including two inside the ten, as the Beavers remained unbeaten in conference play with a 22-7 triumph over Dickinson State.

For the Week of September 24-30, 2007:

Offense: Nick Banks; Minot State; Junior; Running Back; San Diego, CA

Banks had 257 all-purpose yards in leading the Beavers to a 17-10 victory over South Dakota Mines.  He had 27 carries for 200 yards and two touchdowns and added five receptions for 57 yards.

Defense: Bryce Petersen; Jamestown College; Senior; Defensive Back; Jamestown, ND

Petersen intercepted two passes and returned them for touchdowns in the Jimmies 42-7 triumph over Valley City State.  In the win, he also had three solo tackles and one assist.

Special Teams: Kraig Tafoya; Black Hills State; Freshman; Punter/Kicker; Cheyenne, WY

Tafoya averaged 41.4 yards per punt and had three of his five punts downed inside the five yard line as the Yellow Jackets defeated Dickinson State 23-3.

For the Week of September 17-23, 2007:

Offense: Donald Strand; Dakota State; Junior; Quarterback; Tracy, MN

Strand accounted for 264 yards and four touchdowns in the Trojans 31-21 road win over Valley City State.  In the contest, he was 14 of 25 passing for 129 yards with three touchdowns and one interception and ran the ball 25 times for 135 yards and a score.

Defense: Tyrell Anderson; South Dakota Mines; Junior; Defensive Back; Green River, WY

Anderson recorded eight solo tackles and seven assisted tackles, including 0.5 tackles-for-a-loss, in the Hardrockers 24-3 loss at Dickinson State.

Special Teams: Joe Sanchez; South Dakota Mines; Freshman; Punter; Gilbert, AZ

Sanchez punted seven times for 227 yards (34.4 yards/punt) with a long of 47 yards as the Hardrockers dropped their conference opener to Dickinson State, 24-3.

For the Week of September 10-16, 2007:
Offense: Josh Kittell; Jamestown College; Junior; Quarterback; Garrison, ND
Kittell came off the Jimmies' bench in the 2nd quarter to lead his team to four touchdowns in a 28-16 non-conference win over Minot State.  In the game, he was 23 for 33 passing for 269 yards and 3 touchdowns and added touchdown run as the 11th ranked Jimmies improved to 3-0.
Defense: Logan Denning; Dakota State; Senior; Linebacker; Corsica, SD
Denning had 8 solo and 7 assist tackles in the Trojans' 14-12 win over Dickinson State in non-conference action.  He also had 2.5 tackles-for-a-loss among hi 15 tackles in the game.
Special Teams: Robert Stevens; Mayville State; Senior; Punter; Modesto, CA
Stevens had five of his six punts downed inside the 20 yard line in the Comets 10-7 triple overtime non-conference win over South Dakota Mines.  In the contest, he averaged almost 31 yards per punt and went 1-2 passing on fake punts for 22 yards and one interception.

For the Week of September 03-09, 2007
Offense: Tanner Kelting; Jamestown College; Senior; Quarterback; Gillette, WY
Kelting was 15 of 27 for 176 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in leading the Jimmies to a 17-9 triumph over Southwest State, MN.
Defense: Wacey Coleman; Black Hills State; Sophomore; Defensive Lineman; Rozet, WY
Coleman had four tackles-for-a-loss, including 1.5 sacks in the Yellow Jackets 14-3 setback to Wisconsin-Eau Claire.  In the contests he had six solo tackles and nine assist tackles.
Special Teams: No nominees.

For the Week of August  27-September 02, 2007:
Offense: Lukas Munsell; South Dakota Mines; Senior; Wide Receiver; Mills, WY
Munsell caught four passes for 75 yards and one touchdown and carried the ball 12 times for 133 yards and a score in helping the Harrockers to a 29-0 triumph over Trinity Bible College, ND.
Defense: Tom Lunzman; South Dakota Mines; Freshman; Safety; Gretna, NE
Lunzman returned one of his two interceptions for a touchdown in the Hardrockers' 29-0 season opening victory over Trinity Bible College, ND.  Lunzman also had three solo tackles, one assisted tackle and a pass break-up.
