2010 DAC Players of the Week

For the Week of November 01-07, 2010:

Offense: Trent Kosel; Valley City State; Senior; Quarterback; Edgeley, ND

Kosel accounted for 362 yards and five touchdowns in the Vikings’ 62-39 win over Dakota State.  In the contests, he was 13 of 18 passing for 255 yards with four touchdowns and one interception and rushed 16 times for 107 yards and a score.

Defense: Bodie Tobin; Dickinson State; Senior; Linebacker; Gadiner, MT

Tobin had two solo tackles and eight assists, including one tackle for a loss and intercepted a pass in the Blue Hawks’ 21-0 win over Black Hills State that secured his team the DAC championship.

Special Teams: Stacey Berg; Dakota State; Sophomore; Wide Receiver; Winslow, AZ

Berg returned seven kickoffs for 187 yards (26.7 yds/return) in the Trojans’ 62-39 loss to Valley City State.  He returned the opening kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown.

 

For the Week of Octotber 25-31, 2010:

Offense: Dominique Bradley; Mayville State; Freshman; Running Back; San Diego, CA

Bradley carried the ball 26 times for 181 yards and two touchdowns and added a pair of receptions for eight yards in the Comets’ 21-14 win over Dakota State.

Defense: Tom Lunzman; South Dakota Mines; Senior; Defensive Back; Gretna, NE

Lunzman sealed the Hardrockers’ 23-20 double overtime win over Black Hills State with an interception in the end zone to finish the second overtime.  He also had two solo tackles and five assists as the ‘Rockers remain tied atop the DAC standings with Dickinson State with one game to play.

Special Teams: Andy Smith; South Dakota Mines; Junior; Kicker; Pierre, SD

Smith was 3-for-3 on field goals and 2-for-2 on PAT tries as the Hardrockers topped Black Hills State, 23-20 in two overtimes.  Smith sent the game into overtime with a 23 yard field goal late in the fourth quarter and gave his team the lead with a 22 yard kick in the second overtime as SDM remains tied for first in the DAC with Dickinson State.

 

For the Week of October 18-24, 2010:

Offense: Stacey Berg; Dakota State; Sophomore; Wide Receiver; Winslow, AZ

Berg had five catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns in the Trojans’ 58-48 setback to Jamestown College.  Berg and quarterback Paul Bagala connected for a 92 yard score to tie the Dakota State record for longest touchdown pass.

Defense: Eric Henke; Minot State; Junior; Defensive Back; Velva, ND

Henke had two interceptions, including one at the Minot State 2-yard line, in the Beavers’ 17-14 upset win over #20 Black Hills State in Spearfish, SD.  He also had two solo tackles and two assists.

Special Teams: Nate Nygard; Jamestown College; Junior; Kicker; Fargo, ND

Nygard was 7 for 7 on PAT’s and hit 3 of 3 field goals in the Jimmies’ 58-48 win over Dakota State.  For the season, Nygard is 26 for 26 on extra points and has hit 12 of 15 field goal attempts.

 

For the Week of October 11-17, 2010:

Offense: Trent Kosel; Valley City State; Senior; Quarterback; Edgeley, ND

Kosel completed 12 of 17 passes for 167 yards and six touchdowns and added 20 yards rushing on nine carries in the Vikings’ 54-10 win over Dakota State.

Defense: Everett Brill; South Dakota Mines; Senior; Linebacker; Elko, NV

Brill had five solo tackles and five assists tackles, including two sacks and 4.5 total tackles for a loss as the 15th ranked Hardrockers topped Minot State on the road, 10-6.

Special Teams: Dominique Bradley; Mayville State; Freshman; Defensive Back; San Diego, CA

Bradley returned a punt 99 yards for a touchdown and had six kickoff returns for 173 yards in the Comets’ 44-7 setback at Jamestown College.

 

For the Week of October 04-10, 2010:

Offense: Nico Youngren; Sophomore; Running Back; Gig Harbor, WA

Youngren rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries and had a pair of receptions for three yards in the Beavers 35-19 victory over Dakota State.

Defense: Seth Forster; Dickinson State; Senior; Defensive Lineman; Richardton, ND

Forster had four solo tackles and one assist, including a pair of sacks as the tenth rated Blue Hawks held Mayville State to just 152 yards in total offense in a 37-7 triumph.

Special Teams: Andy Smith; South Dakota Mines; Junior; Kicker; Pierre, SD

Smith hit a 36 yard field goal and was four-of-four on PAT tries in the 18th ranked Hardrockers’ 31-7 home win over Jamestown College.

 

For the Week of September 27-October 03, 2010:

Offense: Johnny Lester; Minot State; Senior; Wide Receiver; Miami, FL

Lester had 13 catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns and carried the ball four times for 56 yards in the Beavers’ 19-14 win over Jamestown College.

Defense: Dustin Erbes; Jamestown College; Senior; Defensive Back; Colfax, ND

Erbes had a pair of interceptions, one pass break-up, seven solo tackles and five assist tackles in the Jimmies’ 19-14 setback to Minot State.

Special Teams: Levi Millikin; Black Hills State; Sophomore; Punter; Wheatland, WY

Millikin averaged 37.1 yards per punt on ten kicks and placed six of his ten punts inside the 20 yard line as the Yellow Jackets rallied to defeat Dakota State, 14-9.

 

For the Week of September 20-26, 2010:

Offense: Drew Hodgs; Black Hills State; Senior; Quarterback; Douglas, WY

Hodgs tossed five touchdown passes in a 48-17 Yellow Jacket victory at Mayville State.  In the contest, he was 15 of 23 for 261 yards, five TD’s and no interceptions.

Defense: Forest Sainsbury; Black Hills State; Senior; Linebacker; Camp Crook, SD

Sainsbury had four tackles-for-a-loss including two sacks as the Yellow Jackets topped Mayville State, 48-17.  He ended the game with seven solo tackles and two assist tackles.

Special Teams: Derion Williams; Dickinson State; Senior; Defensive Back; Las Vegas, NV

Williams had two kick returns for 79 yards and two punt returns for 58 yards in helping lead the Blue Hawks to a 26-16 homecoming win over Jamestown College to remain unbeaten at 4-0.

 

For the Week of September 13-19, 2010:

Offense: Bryar DeSanti; Black Hills State; Freshman; Running Back; Merino, CO

DeSanti rushed 16 times for 73 yards and a touchdown and had three receptions for 130 yards and two TD’s in helping the Yellow Jackets to a 28-25 road triumph over Jamestown College.  His touchdowns came on a 56 yard reception, a 54 yard reception and a 53 yard run.

Defense: Brian Sorensen; Minot State; Sophomore; Linebacker; Hazen, ND

Sorensen had 5 solo tackles and 2 assist tackles, including one sack and another tackle-for a loss and also blocked a field goal in the Beavers’ 42-10 conference opening victory over Mayville State.

Special Teams: Johnny Lester; Minot State; Senior; Receiver; Miami, FL

Lester returned a kick 71 yards for a touchdown and also had three punt returns for 39 yards in the Beavers 42-10 home win over Mayville State.  The kick return touchdown was his second of the season and fifth of his career.  Lester now has eight special team’s scores as a Beaver.

For the Week of September 06-12, 2010:

Offense: Max Boe; Jamestown College; Junior; Wide Receiver; Wylie, TX

Boe had nine receptions for 243 yards and two touchdowns in the Jimmies’ 27-24 loss at Wisconsin-Stout.

Defense: Dominique Bradley; Mayville State; Freshman; Defensive Back; San Diego, CA

Bradley had two interceptions and returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown in the Comets’ 31-0 win over Trinity Bible College, ND.  He also had three solo tackles and four assist tackles, including one tackle-for-a-loss.

Special Teams: Nate Nygard; Jamestown College; Junior; Kicker; Fargo, ND

Nygard made a 38 yard field goal and was 3 for 3 on extra point attempts in the Jimmies’ 27-24 setback at Wisconsin-Stout.

For the Week of August 30-September 05, 2010:

Offense: Mike Beehler; Jamestown College; Senior; Quarterback; Foley, MN

Beehler led the Jimmies to an exciting 56-54 triple overtime win over Peru State, NE with 386 yards in total offense.  He was 27 of 47 passing for 334 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions and added 52 yards rushing on 12 carries in the Jimmies’ season opening victory.

Defense: Forest Sainsbury; Black Hills State; Senior; Linebacker; Camp Crook, SD

Sainsbury recorded eight solo tackles and five assists tackles including 4.5 tackles-for-a-loss and two sacks in the Yellow Jackets thrilling 14-13 overtime win over Wisconsin-Stout.

Special Teams: Nate Nygard; Jamestown College; Junior; Kicker; Fargo, ND

Nygard kicked a 35 yard field goal with 35 seconds left in the fourth quarter to tie the contest and send it in to overtime, before the Jimmies eventually triumphed, 56-54, in three overtimes.  In the contest, he was six for six on PAT’s and connected on two of three field goal tries.
