Neslihan Yilmaz, 5-9, Senior, OH, Dickinson State, Istanbul, Turkey
Yilmaz’s play was key in a Blue Hawk win over 8^th ranked National American University to clinch the number one spot in Region III. Yilmaz had 33 kills (8.3/game) while hitting .409. She also had 20 digs (5.0/game), 4 blocks, and two aces. In serve receive, she passed a perfect 100% on 17 balls. The Blue Hawks improved their season record to 27-1. The Hawks hold the number two ranking in the latest NAIA National polls. Yilmaz was also named the Region III Player of the Week.
Setter of the Week Oct. 29-Nov. 4, 2000:
Jackie Schulthess, 5-6, Junior, S, Jamestown College, Laketown, UT
Schulthess and the Jimmies closed out the regular season with 3-0 conference victory over Huron University, and the third seed in the DAC final standings. Schulthess had 56 assists (18.7/game), and 4 aces (1.3/game). She also had 4 kills, hit .250, and added 12 digs and 1 block. The Jimmies improve to 18-13 on the year, and 9-4 in the DAC. Schulthess was also named theRegion III Setter of the Week.

Player of the Week Oct. 22-28, 2000:
Megan Barnes, 5-9, Freshman, OH, South Dakota Tech, Laramie, WY
Megan Barnes led the Hardrockers in wins over Valley City State and rival Black Hills State. Barnes had 54 kills (6.0/game) and hit .396 over the two matches. She had 24 kills vs. Valley City State and 30 kills vs. Black Hills State. She also had 48 digs (5.3/game), 8 blocks (0.89/game) and 6 aces (0.67/game). South Dakota Tech is now 7-5 in the DAC and 14-12 overall. Barnes was also named the Region III Player of the week.

Cameron helped the Blue Hawks to a 3-0 conference win over Minot State. Cameron had 39 assists (13.0/game) and 15 digs

Yilmaz helped the Blue Hawks to a 3-0 record for the week. She had 57 kills (6.3/game) while hitting .438 on the outside. Yilmaz also had 6 aces (.67/game), 32 digs (3.6/game), and 5 blocks. In the Blue Hawks 3-0 win over Jamestown College, Yilmaz had 25 kills (8.3/game) while hitting .638 for the match. The Blue Hawks are currently 24-1 overall and 11-0 in the DAC. Yilmaz was also named the Region III Player of the Week.

Hayden led the way for the Comets to a 4-0 record for the week. Hayden had 179 assists (12.8/game) and had 6 kills. She also added 30 digs (2.1/game), 3 blocks and 2 aces. The Comets move to 9-2 in the DAC and 13-7 overall. Hayden was also named theRegion III Setter of the Week.

Maggie Asmund, 6-1, Freshman, MH, Jamestown College, Fargo, ND
Maggie Asmund led the Jimmies in a 3-1 defeat to Mayville State. She had 23 kills (5.8/game) in the four games while hitting .435. She also had 7 blocks (1.8/game) and 5 digs for the night. The Jimmies are now 6-2 in the DAC and 14-11 overall.

Yilmaz was also named the Region III Player of the Week.

Molly Barnes, 5-5 Sophomore, S, SD Tech, Laramie, WY
Barnes was the bright spot in the Hard Rockers line up for the week. Barnes dished out 146 assists (12.2/game) and 57 digs (4.8/game) through 3 matches. Her week was highlighted by 71 assists in a 3-2 loss to Huron University. Barnes also added 6 blocks (0.5game) and 4 kills over the week. The Hard Rockers are now 2-5 in the DAC and 8-11 overall. Barnes was also named Region III Setter of the week.

Sheryl Kottsick, 5-7, Sophomore, OH, Valley City State, Mandan, ND
Kottsick led the way for the Vikings who defeated the Minot State Beavers 3-2 in last week's non-conference match at Valley City. Kottsick had 26 kills (5.2 p/gm) and 32 digs (6.4 p/gm) to pace the Vikings. Sheryl also had 4 blocks while hitting .250% for the night. The Vikings are now 3-1 in the DAC and 10-7 overall.
Setter of the Week for Sept. 24-30, 2000
Sara Warner, 5-8, Freshman, S, Black Hills State, Casper, WY
Warner led the Yellow Jackets through a couple of tough five game matches for the week. The Jackets defeated University of Mary 3-2, and fell 3-2 to Chadron State, NE. Warner totaled 103 assists (10.3 p/gm) and 27 digs (2.7 p/gm) for the week. Warner also added 5 blocks, with 3 in the win over the University of Mary. The Yellow Jackets moved to 2-2 in the DAC and 3-10 on the year.

Player of the Week for Sept. 17-23, 2000

Barnes led the Hardrockers to 3 wins in 5 matches. Barnes had 77 kills (3.9 per game) and hit .383 on the outside over the week. She also served up 15 aces (0.75 per game), added 12 blocks and 70 digs.

Schulthess led the Jimmies in a tough 3-2 loss to the University of North Dakota. The junior setter also helped the team to a 3-1 record at the Concordia College Invitational. Schulthess tallied 205 assists (10.3 per game) and 40 digs on the week. She also added 15 kills, 11 aces, and 8 blocks over the 5 matches. Schulthess was named to the Cobber all-tournament team on the weekend.

Player of the Week for Sept. 10-16, 2000
Neslihan Yilmaz, 5-9, Senior, OH, Dickinson State, Istanbul, Turkey
Yilmaz helped the Blue Hawks to the championship match at the Graceland, Iowa, Invitational, where they lost to top-ranked Columbia, Missouri, 3-1. Yilmaz had 125 kills in the tournament (6.6 per game) while hitting .320 and adding 18 blocks (0.95 per game) She also had 68 digs (3.6 per game) and ten aces (0.5 per game). Yilmaz was a 1st team all-tournament selection. She also surpassed 2000 kills in her collegiate career.
Setter of the Week Sept. 10-16, 2000
April Cameron, 5-7, Sophomore, S, Dickinson State, Melita, Manitoba
Cameron helped the Blue Hawks to a 2nd place finish at the Graceland, Iowa, Invitational as DSU suffered their first loss of the season to number one ranked Columbia, Missouri, 3-1 in the tournament championship match. Cameron recorded 251 assists in her team's five matches (13.2 per game). She also had 51 digs (2.7 per game), eight blocks, nine kills and a hitting percentage of .290.

Yilmaz led the Hawks to a three game conference win over Black Hills State on Wednesday night. Ylimaz led the team with 20 kills (6.66 per game) and 6 aces (2.0 per game). Yilmaz also added 12 digs (4.0 per game) and hit over .300 for the match. The Blue Hawks extend their perfect season record to 10-0 overall and 2-0 in the DAC.
